The persons who have promoted the Bank have worked in several areas of the banking industry. The Textile Manufacturers Co-Operative Bank at JM Road, Bangalore, was giving loan to Silk Cloth Merchants, which inspired the promoters to start a society of their own.

Members from the Silk Merchants Association formed a group to conceptualize the idea of starting their own Bank. After several months of discussions, they formed this institution. It initially started as a co-operative society, which has grown into a Bank of this magnitude. With the leadership of Sri D Bhagwan Das and KCS Raman, they formed a committee of eleven directors with four staff members. They started their business of banking in a small Shop of 10 sq. ft. at Aruna Market, CT Street, Bangalore. Year by year, the Share Capital, Deposits, Loan, Advances, Investments and profit earning increased and different activities were introduced. The Bank is headed by CEO B.A. Krishna Bhagawan under the guidance and advisory of Sri C. Balakrishnan. The Bank is managed by its Board of Directors Sri N.S. Srinivasa Murthy - President, Sri R.P.
